NUR is an independent media art festival that unites media artists, musicians and performers from all over the world in Kazan. Starting in 2021, the event shows iconic architectural sites from a different perspective and reveals hidden historical parts of the city, immersing viewers in a New Unique Reality.

Media artists and studios from different countries will present works where advanced technologies are becoming a new language of art. The program will open more than 10 historical locations of Kazan, show familiar urban spaces in a completely new light and provide exclusive access to sites that are usually closed to the public.

Mapping Contest

Participants in the mapping contest, together with T2, are transforming urban spaces into dynamic environments. Architecture serves as a canvas for artists from around the world to express themselves, while modern technology acts as a tool for reimagining it. By selecting the best works, viewers influence the outcome, reinforcing T2’s vision that digital reality is shaped by people in the here and now.

URAM Extreme Park — 33 Kremlin Embankment

This year, the heart of NUR is the URAM Extreme Park. In addition to three installations, the educational program’s lecture hall, and a video art exhibition, the park also features an information center, a shop selling new festival merchandise, partner brand zones, and a food court. The main venue also has its own program—markets, free workshops, interactive activities, and daytime DJ sets.

Kazan State Circus — 2 Tysyacheletiya Square

The sixth NUR Festival will open with the premiere of the multimedia performance ‘Realtime’, which brings together the installation ‘PAX’ by the SETAP studio, choreography by Marat Kazikhanov, and live music by the electroacoustic group Index III. It explores the individual shaping digital reality in the here and now: every movement becomes a signal, and a thought is instantly transformed into action — right before the audience’s eyes.
